Composite bonding, or dental bonding, is a cosmetic dental treatment that uses an ultraviolet light to apply a resin material that bond with your natural tooth enamel.
The treatment is a much simpler procedure than veneers or dental crowns and removes very little (or not at all) of tooth enamel, therefore, preserving the natural tooth colour, health and structure.
Composite bonding can be used for a variety of reasons including tooth staining, chipped, cracked or crooked teeth. Teeth damaged by cavities and tooth coloured fillings also benefit from composite bonding as the resin is shaped and moulded to ensure straighter looking teeth and an even colour finish.
The cosmetic dental treatment is minimally invasive and fast to carry out with the added benefit of being completely metal-free and therefore protecting your mouth from mercury.
Composite bonding has been used as a corrective dental technique for over fifty years and can be completed in a single visit to the dental clinic. Teeth are cleaned followed by the application, shaping and light curing of the resin and bonding agent. The procedure will finish with a polish.
